Daniel Kucan is probably best known as the designer/host of several makeover shows that have moved him all over the country building houses for folks in trouble, including the Emmy winning series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Having grown up in a conservatory setting, by the time he was 25 he had performed hundreds of times regionally, on and off Broadway, in downtown experimental theaters, in several countries, in films and on television.
Known for his bold physical approach which he developed at New York University with such luminaries as Kristin Linklater, Stephen Wangh, Moises Kaufman and Jonathan Hart-Makwaia, he is a fiercely devoted collaborator and creator of new forms. He currently sits on the board of directors and is the educational director for the Veterans’ Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, which uses theater to help war vets make the transition back to civilian life. He is also a long time Resident Artist for Shakespeare Santa Monica in Los Angeles.
