A PUBLIC FIT RETURNS IN 2022 WITH SKELETON CREW AND RECENT TRAGIC EVENTS
A Public Fit Theatre Company (APF) is continuing its 2021-2022 theatrical season with its next two plays, including a staged reading of Dominique Morisseau’s Skeleton Crew and the mainstage production of Craig Wright’s Recent Tragic Events. Skeleton Crew will be presented on January 28-29, 2022, at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89109. Admission to Skeleton Crew is free. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the show begin at 7 pm. Recent Tragic Events performs February 4-20, 2022, at The Usual Place, 100 S. Maryland Pkwy., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the shows start at 7 pm. Tickets are $40 for general admission and $35 for seniors, students, and military patrons.
Directed by Jason Nious, Skeleton Crew explores the effects of economic instability on wage workers in Detroit. This tense and explosive play explores the economic difficulties of workers navigating the possibility of a plant closure. Shanita has to figure out how to support herself and her unborn child. Dez is taking the opportunity to try and make his dreams come true. Faye faces the loss of her home. And Reggie attempts to balance old friends and new responsibilities.
Erik Amblad directs the romantic comedy, Recent Tragic Events. This witty, poignant play shows us that life, love, and humor go on even during the most difficult of national tragedies. On September 12, 2001, Waverly and Andrew decided to keep the blind date arranged for them. The couple realizes that several outrageous coincidences connect them.
Coming back after being shut down for over a year, APF is exploring the different aspects of changes and hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Great theatre always has something to say and hopefully moves the viewers to better understand the world and their community. APF continues this tradition through quality productions, staged readings, and The Buzz!!! – a moderated discussion after performances. The Buzz!!! brings the community together to discuss issues explored in the play with the actors and production staff.
APF offers a seven-show season consisting of four staged readings and three mainstage productions. APF’s remaining shows for the 2021-22 season are: Stop Kiss by Diana Son, staged reading; Things I Know to Be True by Andrew Bovell, mainstage production; and Heroes of the Fourth Turning by Will Arbery, staged reading. All staged readings are held at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89119. The remaining mainstage productions are held at The Usual Place, 100 S. Maryland Pkwy., Las Vegas, NV 89101.
