Karen Cornejo

Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Karen Cornejo has now lived in Las Vegas for the past 13 years. Having attended The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for fashion design, she quickly discovered that her true passion was costume design. With over 20 years in the industry, Karen has worked in many avenues in the world of costumes.

Karen has had the pleasure of designing or assisting on design for shows for many companies, a few of which are Civic Light Opera of the South Bay Cities, Neighborhood Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse, and Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. Among some of the shows Karen has designed are Bye Bye Birdie, Parade, Amadeus, Tracers, Steel Magnolias, Quilters, Fully Committed, Godspell, Dial “M” for Murder, Othello, Little Shops of Horror, Into the Woods, and Noises Off. Karen’s recent work includes designing for RISE with Velvet Crane and Dragone here in Las Vegas, costume coordinating for Usher’s immersive show at Caesar’s Palace, designing costumes in collaboration with Belluscious for Elia Beach Club, and styling for Stations Casinos’ commercials.

In addition to designing, Karen has also worked over the last 12 years with Cirque du Soleil on different shows in different capacities. Among the shows worked are Believe, Viva Elvis, Zarkana, Kooza, and Volta.

Karen is currently working on the development of Criss Angel’s new show in collaboration with Franco Dragone. The Piano Lesson is her second project with APF after designing Recent Tragic Events last season.
