
Gigi Guizado is a critically acclaimed international theatre artist and writer: a member of Out of the Wings Collective, and writer for The Platform, in London; featured on national public radio, and exhibitions on author Rafael Guizado, in Bogotá; and Resident Playwright at The Asylum Theatre in Las Vegas. Her translations and original 10-minute plays have been staged in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and London. She studied acting at The New Conservatory, College of Marin, The Actor’s Centre, and earned her BA in drama from San Francisco State University. Favorite roles include the one-woman show The Therapist at The Asylum Theatre, Lydia in the film I’m in Love with a Church Girl, The Boar in the audio drama We’re Alive: Descendants, and Juanda in A Public Fit’s staged reading of The Ghosts of Lote Bravo.
Her writing credits include translations published in Another Chicago Magazine, Asymptote Journal, The Mercurian, and featured on Performing International Plays. Her translation of The Therapist by Gabriela Yepes is published by Inti Press. Her poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net and published in The Emerson Review, Rogue Agent Journal, Salamander Ink Magazine, and The Bluebird Word, among others. Her article-in-press, “Social Determinants of Health: A Multilingual Standardized Patient Case to Practice Interpreter Use in a Telehealth Visit” is forthcoming from MedEdPORTAL.
Last season, she made her APF directorial debut with Lydia by Octavio Solis. She is delighted to return this season to direct The Lifespan of a Fact and to perform in Indecent.
